Manens-Tifs develops the design of HVAC systems for Virgin’s first cruise ship, built by Fincantieri

The ceremony celebrating the cut of the first steel sheet for the first one of three cruise ships that Fincantieri is building for Virgin Voyages, a brand of Virgin Group operating in the ship cruise sector, was held in the shipyard of Sestri Ponente (Genoa) on 2017 March the 22nd.

The delivery to the Ship owner of the three ships is scheduled from February 2020 to June 2022.

The units, of about 110,000 GRT, have an overall length of about 280m and a molded breadth of about 38m. They will be able to host more than 2,700 passengers in 1,408 cabins with a crew staff of about 1,150 members .

All the three units are characterized by their original design and by the highly innovative solutions adopted for their plants, particularly concerning energy recovery system and low environmental impact. The ships in fact will be equipped with an electricity generation system (power 1 MW) that uses the waste heat of the diesel engines. The result of this project will distinguish Virgin Voyages in the world cruising view.

Fincantieri, proceeding in the cooperation started four years ago with mutual satisfaction, has entrusted to Manens-Tifs the development of the design activities of all the HVAC systems of the ship.
