The project Caselle Open Mall won, at the 14th Annual Global RLI Awards, the “Highly Commended” award in the “RLI Future Project 2019” category.

The intervention concerns the construction of a building complex for commercial activities, entertainment, food and services on a total area of 350,000 sqm with about 121,000 sqm of floor space.

The Shopping Centre consists of approximately 230 units, divided into retail (82,000 sqm) and entertainment areas (20,000 sqm), cultural contents and food (11,000 sqm) for a total of 113,000 sqm of GLA. There are also services and management activities for about 13,000 sqm.

The project boasts the most balanced and sustainable solutions. One of the most special feature of the centre, designed with BIM methodology – C level, is for sure the covered, but not air-conditioned, two-storeys Mall. This structure covers an area of 18,000 sqm and it is configured as an open urban gallery, inspired by the wide open avenues of Turin. It consists of two side fronts of shops, covered by a glass system intended as an element of passive microclimatic control.

Manens-Tifs has taken part to the design of the intervention, with a special assignment for the development of specific studies concerning Building Physics and the research of new mitigation solutions to improve the perceived comfort conditions in a complex environment, open to the outside world and without active air conditioning systems, with careful attention also for acoustic and visual aspects.
